Feb. 14th Weekly Update

Thank you to everyone who sent in treats for our Valentine's Day party, the kids had a great time and now have very full bellies!
This was yet another busy week for us in room 14.  We finished up unit 6 in math and took the test yesterday.   We also finished up our last investigation in our Magnetism and Electricity science unit.  We still have some reading in the resource book to do when we get back from break and then we will take the unit test most likely on March 5th.  Students also will be turning in their science notebooks that day as well and will need to make sure that they are complete, neat, and well organized before that.  A major part of their science grade for the trimester comes from their work in these notebooks.  Students also finished writing their response to literature essays this week and I am in the process of grading these. So far they have done a great job and I am seeing a lot of improvement in the classes writing skills overall.
When we get back from the break we will begin our mission projects.  Some of the work will be done in class and in the computer lab but there will be parts that will need to be completed at home as well.  After the break I will be sending home information that will explain all that they are responsible for completing.  Part of the project will be individual and part will be completed with a partner.
We also have our field trip to the Intel Museum on Wednesday, 2/26 when we get back from break.  I will be contacting parents about chaperoning the trip this week.
 Have a wonderful February Break!
Mrs. Barkve
